Chippewa County 4‑H is seeking individuals to serve as Lifeguards at our four day Summer Camp program in June!
Location: Chippewa County 4‑H Summer Camp at WFU Kamp Kenwood
Dates: June 22–25, 2026
Position Type: Short-term, stipend position
Position Overview
Chippewa County 4‑H is seeking certified lifeguards to support aquatic and waterfront activities during 4‑H Summer Camp at Kamp Kenwood. Lifeguards play a critical role in ensuring the safety of youth and adults participating in swimming and canoeing activities both on‑site and off‑site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide active lifeguard supervision during designated swim and canoe activity times
- Enforce water safety rules and procedures
- Respond appropriately to emergencies following lifeguard training and protocols
- Assist with safety checks of waterfront and canoeing equipment
- Work collaboratively with 4‑H camp staff and volunteers to ensure a safe, positive camp experience
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross or equivalent), including CPR/AED and First Aid
- Ability to remain alert and attentive for the duration of assigned shifts
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience working with youth is preferred but not required
- Ability to travel to Lake Wissota State Park (for select shifts)
Compensation
- Stipend provided for the duration of assigned shifts
- Details will be shared upon selection
Commitment
Lifeguards are needed for one or more of the following time blocks:
- June 22: 12:35–2:30 p.m.
- June 23: 2:15–5:00 p.m.
- Lake Wissota State Park & Canoe Trip
- 1 lifeguard requested at the State Park
- 1 lifeguard requested for the Canoe Trip
- June 24: 2:00–5:00 p.m.
