4-H Positive Youth Development

What is 4-H?

4-H is a national program that helps young people develop leadership, citizenship, and life skills. Since 1915, Chippewa County 4-H has offered hands-on learning, leadership opportunities, and community involvement.

As part of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension’s Institute of Positive Youth Development, Chippewa County 4-H connects local youth to the largest youth development organization in the country.

How 4-H Works

Through clubs, camps, youth leadership opportunities, governance, and school programming, young people discover their passions and build skills such as: Problem solving, decision making, leadership, and healthy living

Learn by Doing

Based on the four H’s: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health; 4‑H uses a “learn by doing” approach that allows youth to explore interests in science, the arts, and community service.
