4-H Project Clubs & Groups

In Chippewa County 4-H, we offer Single Project Clubs and County Project Groups for our enrolled members, as well as Single Project Clubs for community youth. These groups enhance your 4-H experience, providing opportunities for youth to explore and excel in different project areas.

Single Project 4-H Clubs

A 4-H Single-Project Club, focuses on a specific project, welcomes all community members who meet the age requirements. Club members gather regularly under the guidance of an adult volunteer with a planned program. These clubs usually have elected officers and member-approved rules to govern the club, or for younger groups, other developmentally appropriate structures and processes. Community clubs typically meet in the evenings or on weekends, offering specific learning experiences and activities centered on a single project area, such as horses or dogs.

Horse Club

Explore the world of horses and ponies by learning the basics like breeds, gaits, equipment, and riding styles. The Horse & Pony Project is perfect for those who own or lease these animals. If you don’t own or lease, you can join the Horseless Horse or Model Horse Project.

These projects will teach you valuable skills and prepare you for various 4-H events, such as the County Fair, State 4-H Hunt & Dressage, State 4-H Gymkhana, and State 4-H Expo. They provide a great foundation for a fun and rewarding 4-H experience.

The Horse Club is open to youth from Kindergarten to 13th grade. Members can also belong to another club, but as a single project club, you’ll only participate in the Horse Project area unless you join an additional 4-H Community Club.

Cloverbud Club

Welcome to Chippewa County 4-H Cloverbud Club and Your First Project! We’re excited to see what our youth will achieve in 4-H. If your child is a new member in grades 5K-2, they will join the Cloverbud Project, designed specifically for their age group. Cloverbuds can enjoy activities like experimenting with science, exploring creativity, diving into animal and plant science, learning about themselves and others, and giving back to their communities. By the time they finish 2nd grade, they will have a better idea of their interests and be ready to choose projects to explore further. This page is here to help with any questions you might have.

Shooting Sports Program

4-H Shooting Sports is a national program for 4-H youth and adult volunteers. In Wisconsin, we use a special curriculum to teach shooting sports safety to over 5,000 kids with the help of more than 400 adult volunteers. These volunteers must complete a twelve-hour training workshop before they can teach. Our focus is on developing life skills, safety procedures, and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment.

The Chippewa County 4-H Shooting Sports Project is open to kids in grades 3-13 who are members of the Chippewa County 4-H Program. We offer activities in Air Rifle/BB Gun, Air Pistol, .22 Pistol (after a year of air pistol), Archery, Muzzle Loading, and Shotgun (Trap League for those 12 and older).

The goal of the program is to help kids develop life skills like decision-making, leadership, and problem-solving, promote safety and sportsmanship, appreciate natural resources, strengthen family bonds through recreational activities, and build positive relationships with peers and adults. We also aim to build character, citizenship, and awareness of career opportunities related to shooting sports. For more information, visit the Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports Website.

The Chippewa County 4-H Livestock Education Program, formerly the Quality Meats Program, is the agricultural education part of the Chippewa County 4-H Program. The group meets four times a year, with youth-led educational sessions during off months. The program aims to equip youth with the skills to be well-rounded livestock owners.

Open to 4-H members in grades 3-13 enrolled in Beef, Swine, Poultry, Sheep, and/or Dairy Projects, the program is expanding and welcomes suggestions for new project areas.

The program offers hands-on agricultural education, including animal care sessions, guest speakers, and access to resources.
