Chippewa County 4-H Shooting Sports Program
The Chippewa County 4-H Shooting Sports Program is open to kids in grades 3-13 who are enrolled members of the Chippewa County 4-H Program. We offer activities in Archery, Air Rifle/BB Gun, Air Pistol, .22 Pistol (need to complete a year of air pistol to participate), Muzzle Loading, and Shotgun (Trap League – must be 12 years old).
4-H Shooting Sports is a national program for 4-H youth and adult volunteers. Here in Wisconsin, we use a special curriculum to teach shooting sports safety to over 5,000 kids, with the help of more than 400 adult volunteers. These volunteers must complete a twelve-hour training workshop before they can teach. Our focus is on developing life skills, safety procedures, and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment.
Our goal is to help kids develop life skills like decision-making, leadership, and problem-solving, promote safety and sportsmanship, appreciate natural resources, strengthen family bonds through recreational activities, and build positive relationships with peers and adults. We also aim to build character, citizenship, and awareness of career opportunities related to shooting sports. For more information, visit the Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports Website.
