Ready, Set, Aim!
Explore the Exciting World of 4-H Shooting Sports in Chippewa County
The Chippewa County 4-H Shooting Sports Program is open to enrolled 4-H members in grades 3–13. Youth can participate in a variety of disciplines, including: Archery, Air Rifle / BB Gun, Air Pistol, .22 Pistol (requires one year of air pistol experience), Muzzle Loading and Shotgun (Trap League) (participants must be at least 12 years old)
This program is part of the national 4-H Shooting Sports initiative, which engages youth and adult volunteers in safe, educational shooting sports experiences. In Wisconsin, over 5,000 youth participate annually, supported by more than 400 certified adult volunteers. All instructors must complete a 12-hour certification workshop before teaching.

Shooting Sports Discipline Offerings
Archery
This program is a fantastic opportunity to develop essential archery marksmanship skills while learning important safety rules and guidelines. Whether you’re new to archery or looking to sharpen your skills, you’ll enjoy honing your aim, building confidence, and connecting with fellow archery enthusiasts
Project Details
Age Requirements:
- Participants must be in third grade and at least eight years old as of October 2025 to participate

Each Sunday, we’ll offer three sessions: 12:45 PM – 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM, and 3:15 PM – 4:30 PM (Indoor Facilities).

- The program fee is $15 and will be collected on the first day of the program. Air Rifle/BB
Ready to aim high? Join us for an exciting journey into firearm safety and Olympic-style marksmanship using BB guns and air rifles. Whether you’re new to shooting or looking to level up, this course has something for everyone!
Project Details
- Who Can Join? Youth in 3rd grade and at least 8 years old.
- Where? TO BE DETERMINED, A standard indoor air rifle range, perfect for learning and practice
- Additional practices in March and April.
- Compete in Olympic-style tournaments!
- End the season with an awards program and a 4-H Basic Rifle Certificate.

- REQUIRED TRAINING DAY: Saturday, February 14, 8:00am-12:00pm
- February 20 and 27 choose from 6–8 p.m. or 7:30–9:30 p.m.
- March 6, 13, 20, 24, 26 choose from 6–8 p.m. or 7:30–9:30 p.m.

Indoor Pistol
Chippewa County 4-H youth have the opportunity to learn the basics of pistol shooting and firearm safety. Shooting sports are enjoyed by people of all ages and often become a lifelong hobby.
Project Details
- Who Can Join? Youth in 3rd grade and at least 8 years old.
- Where?
- .22 Pistol: Youth must be 12 years old AND have completed Hunter Safety and/or one year of air pistol. Youth 14 years old and older may take the .22 pistol class; however, one year of air pistol is recommended.

Volunteer Opportunities
Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Certification
Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports Leaders can be certified in the following disciplines: Archery, Coordinator, Muzzleloader, Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun.
Please note:
- Leaders may only provide instruction in the discipline(s) in which they are certified.
- Adult volunteers must not offer hands-on or safety instruction unless a certified 4-H Shooting Sports Leader is present to supervise the range.
